Master in Educational Leadership

Principal Certification

LeTourneau University’s School of Graduate and Professional Studies and School of Education are committed to developing leaders that understand the process and conditions necessary for building and leading organizations including schools, families, and communities. This process is student-centered and taught from a Christian perspective. Our accelerated online program is designed for busy educators like you who want to enhance their teaching and leadership skills while remaining in the teaching profession. All requirements for the master's degree are approved by the State of Texas.

In the state of Texas, almost 40% of all campus principals for P-12 schools will be eligible to retire in the next decade. It’s very important that schools have an opportunity to identify potential leaders for their campuses and begin the process of preparing them to fill these vacancies.

This Educational Leadership track culminates with an Internship / Practicum experience that allow the student to observe and participate in management and organizational activities. Students choosing this specialization will be ideally suited for administrative work in schools as principal, assistant principals, or other leadership roles.

What is needed to become a principal in Texas?

Students who have been fully admitted in LETU’s 36 credit hour MED program with an emphasis in Educational Leadership will automatically be completing the academic requirements for principalship certification…..this means you will not have to obtain the degree and then be forced to take additional courses beyond the degree to meet the academic requirements.
