The Associate in Interdisciplinary Studies (AIS) is designed for students who want an associate degree that focuses on a well-rounded general education. This degree is obtainable through courses taken either on-ground or online.
If you aren’t able or ready yet to commit to completing your bachelor degree, LeTourneau University’s Associate in Interdisciplinary Studies degree is an excellent way to get started. And if you decide to continue towards earning your undergraduate degree at LeTourneau University, each credit hour you earn can be used towards your BBA, BBM, or Psychology degree.
Your AIS degree can be tailored to be the lead-in for business, education or psychology degrees.
General Education Requirements
The following general education courses are required for the Associate in Interdisciplinary Studies degree:
Bible (6 hours)
English Composition (6 hours)
Literature (3 hours)
History (3 hours)
KINE/PE (3 hours)
Mathematics (3 hours)
Natural Science (3 hours)
Social Science/Humanities* (3 hours)
Total General Education Credits: 33 hours
Elective Courses
Major Related Electives (15 hours) AND
Major Related Electives (15 hours)
OR
General Electives (30 hours)
Total Elective Credits: 30 hours
* Courses such as the following will transfer toward the humanities or social science general education requirements: literature, history, psychology, government, political science, sociology, philosophy, anthropology, and economics.
Graduation Requirements
To earn the Associate in Interdisciplinary Studies degree, students must satisfactorily complete the following graduation requirements. Students returning after discontinuing studies for more than one year will come under the requirements of the newest LeTourneau University catalog. Students must satisfactorily complete:
1. A total of 63 credit hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00.
2. A minimum of 33 credit hours of general education requirements.
3. A minimum of 30 credit hours of elective courses. If the student intends to continue on to a bachelor degree, 15 of the 30 elective credit hours must be in courses related to the major.
4. A minimum of 16 hours must be completed at LeTourneau University.
5. Payment of all tuition and fees.
6. Approval of the faculty and the Board of Trustees.
